I hope you're having a day filled with red, gummy candies! Unfortunately, yesterday I was purging and threw away my bag of Red Vines. What was I thinking? Thank goodness there's still chocolate!
Here's an idea for a last-minute card if you still need one, and you probably have everything you need already.
First you take a tissue box (or whatever box, honestly) and figure out a clever way to keep it closed once you put the paint in there. That is, unless you want a quick Valentinesy decoration all over your walls...
I taped part of another box over it like a flap. (That mineral water is horrible, btw; don't buy it.)
Then I put some painters tape on the back of the card I wanted to paint and stuck it inside the bottom of the tissue box.
Next, drop some paint in there and add some beans (or marbles or acorns or whatever you have around that can spread paint). Use more paint than you think you'll need. Tape down the sides of the flap to hold all that messiness in there, and then shake your heart out. It's pretty fun, even if your kid won't participate.
Look in there...fun, right?
This is how they turned out. I ended up cutting out a few hearts and gluing them on a fancy scalloped card then stamping a message. You could do so many different things with these little paintings! Happy painting and enjoy your day!
